PUNCTURE: land, loss & love is a textile-based, participatory arts project. Over two days, Blue Mountains artists Niki Read and Dan Eleni Carey inhabit the nook, a sanctuary of ecological witness and care, passing needle and thread through the sheer walls, across human and more-than-human worlds. Audiences observe or join in through stitching, mark-making or quiet vigil in the surrounding bush, privileging sensory and non-normative forms of expression. Traces accumulate in response to weather, place and relationship, creating a living textile map of ecological grief and community care. Rather than seeking to fix or overcome grief, the project is a temporal space to be with uncertainty and each other, and develop disability-led, neuroqueer methodologies for ecological grief arts practice.
